Bop Tweedie has lived around the New Haven, Connecticut music scene since 1986 and back then played guitar and sang in a band called 23 Hello. He also played saxophone with local legends: Miracle Legion, Valley Of Kings, The Bell System, The Hello Strangers and The Wishing Years to name a few.
Moving to NYC in 1990, Bop mostly performed as a solo acoustic singer-songwriter but also started getting work as an actor on stage, TV and film. He appeared in the cult classic Vampire Vixens From Venus as well as in two critically acclaimed Shawn Sweeney films, Brothers and Hatch.
Returning to New Haven in 1997, Bop continued to appear on stage and in film in NYC but started performing again with bands here in Connecticut. This time the music was loud, experimental and totally improvised. Playing out and recording with such acts as Media Circus, 3 Piece Trio and Chronicles Of D.A.I.S.Y. until about 2005.
Being mostly a hermit for many years now Bop started making music on his computer with samples and also began quietly rehearsing with his latest band Bop Tweedie and The Days, featuring ex-23 Hello bassist Jeff Day along with his brother Kevin Day of Gigglejuice on drums
He came back in a big way in 2010. Given the opportunity by WildCat Recording Company to release what some say is an electronic masterpiece, The Porno Years volume one. This CD has fans around the world clamoring for the release of volume two.
Just before we rang in the new year, Bop released his first solo album as a rock musician, also on the WildCat label. Touch It Up, is getting rave reviews around the world for it’s honesty and intelligence.......and for being a pretty damn good rock record. Bop is looking forward to taking the band out and playing some shows in the near future to promote his latest release.
The video for the first single Cold Open Dollars is available now along with other Bop Tweedie videos on YouTube.
